Did you know?
Our school is now an eco-school.This means that we are
committed to being as "eco-friendly" as possible. Recently,
we were proud to receive the Bronze Award for our efforts
so far, and we are at present working towards our Silver
Award.
Our eco-committee includes staff, parents and pupils, and
we hold half term meetings to discus issues and set
targets. We have already introduced re-cycle boxes for
paper and card throughout school. In addition, a "save a
flush" scheme (courtesy of United Utilities) is being used,
with the aim of saving water when we flush the toilets.
At our last meeting, a pupil suggested we should aim to use
recycled paper as much as possible, especially where
photocopying is concerned . Unfortunately, at the moment,
re-cycled photocopying paper is much more expensive to buy!
Another issue which which was high lighted was the number
of plastic bottles that the children bring into school on a
daily basis. Many of these are not recycled. Therefore with
the support of the children; staff, carers and parents we
would like to rectify this problem. With this in mind we
are hoping to receive a "co-mingling" re-cycling bin (which
will take a mixture of glass, plastic and tin).
Anyone interested in attending will be most welcome or if
you have any ideas, please contact Mrs. Wharram or Mrs.
Hankinson at the school.
