Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning

What Is SEAL?
The social and emotional aspects of learning are the underpinning qualities and skills that help us manage life and learning effectively.
There are 5 social and emotional aspects of learning:
- self awareness
- managing feelings
- motivation
- empathy
- social skills

SEAL is already being widely used in schools throughout the borough (and the country).
The SEAL resource provides a framework for explicitly promoting social, emotional and behavioural skills, with built-in progression for each year group within the school.

The resource is designed to be implemented by all members of the school community, including carers and parents whose support is essential.
At South Failsworth we intend to roll in the SEAL programme over the next two years. The themes we will look at this year will be:

Autumn Term - New Beginnings
- Anti-Bullying (a short unit during anti-bullying
week)

Spring Term - Getting on and falling out

Summer Term - Relationships
