Healthy Schools at South Failsworth
Healthy Schools initiatives began at South Failsworth in
Autumn 2005 with the formation of the
Healthy Action
Team. Since then we have brought about
many positive changes at school and had very successful
Healthy Schools Days and Healthy Schools weeks.
Our Healthy schools ethos is simple -
We aim to encourage all of our children to enjoy
healthy, safe lifestyles and make positive contributions
within a supportive environment.
As a result of government initiatives stemming from the
“Every Child Matters” white paper, schools
across the country are now required to address the five
outcomes detailed below partly through the creation of
Healthy Schools.
Every Child Matters: Change for Children is a new approach
to the well-being of children and young people from birth
to age 19.
The Government's aim is for every child, whatever their
background or their circumstances, to have the support they
need to:
• Be healthy
• Stay safe
• Enjoy and achieve
• Make a positive contribution
• Achieve economic well-being

We are not in the business of dictating to parents how they
should bring up their children, but we are required to do
our best for the children in our care and Healthy Schools
is our vehicle for achieving this aim, academically,
emotionally and socially.
Over the next few years we aim to continue to develop South
Failsworth as a vibrant forward looking school where all
children and parents are contributors to their own
education and to the whole school community.
